The BCS. And Congress?

25 March 2009 No Comment

Alright seriously.  Aren’t we in one of the worst economic situations of this country’s history?  Correct me if I’m wrong, Barack Obama is now on TV talking about the economy each week more times than there are Major League Baseball games in a week.  That’s probably around 200 times.  So yes, I’m right, we’re in a terrible economic situation.  But get this, Congress is now bored with steroids.  So where else can they stick their nose into sport and get some publicity?  Congress is interested in the BCS.

Okay, credit to you Congress.  Finally someone made a move and is doing something about it, but please appoint a committee to oversee it or force it to some sort of vote.  Congress has bigger fish to fry.

They do have a point.  The BCS is THE BIGGEST joke.  The fact that a computer and a bunch of polls decide who should play for the national championship is shocking, absolutely ridiculous.  Someone needs to do something about it.  There should be a playoff system, no questions asked.  Start the season a week or two earlier and then instead of a conference championship game, have four weeks of playoffs.  As it is teams go 3-4 weeks after their last game until a bowl game.  Take the top 20 teams and put them into a playoff system, simple as that.
